2Hp, 1989, 2C motor

Hello, we are having trouble removing the crankshaft from the drive shaft. The crankcase and cylinder have been removed. The motor has been dropped in salt water. Clearly square drive has rusted together. Any suggestions on how to remove the crank shaft. The intermediate plate is obviously still in place. We have not dropped the lower unit off yet. Will the drive shaft come up through the mid section?

The lower unit wont come off if drive shaft is stuck but you might be able to drop lower unit enough to get oil on drive shaft and turn outboard upside down to let oil run down drive shaft to crankshaft and let soak.
