fuel pumps - messy casting of alum.

Just got 3 new fuel pumps for my 2000 ox66 200hp.
the outer alum. casting was wavy and the YAMAHA logo was smeared looking. Is this normal? or did I possibly get counterfeit parts? Does anyone pressure test new fuel pumps before installing or just screw 'em on?

The casting is not a polished surface on fuel pumps and sometimes you will see them with minor rughness on surface. If you bought parts from boats.net then they are genuine Yamaha parts. No you don't test pumps before installing.
