F115 Problem

Hi, I have 2002 115 four stroke and I noticed my alternator is not putting out any voltage. I did some checking around and I pulled the connector off the engine control unit and I noticed a little corrosion and two prongs wore broke off. Obviously this "a" problem, but is it "the" problem I was looking for? I'm assuming the hole unit will need to be replaced and cannot be fixed. Not looking foward to paying $700. Any advice would be apreciated.

The ECU would have no affect on charging system unless it is shorted to ground. The voltage regulator mounts next to ECU and may have corrosion as well, check all ground leads and connections.
