  • 4bladed prop

I have a 22 foot flatbottom skiff with C150. It currently has a 19SS prop and the enging gets 5300 rpms. This prop does ok for general boating. But this boat has a jack plate and I spend a lot of time in the shallows, and would like a prop to grab more water and accelerate faster. What type 4bladed prop do you all recommend and what size 4bladed prop do I need to get. I have always been told you need to get at WOT around 5300 rpms. I don't want to hurt the engine with a 4bladed. Any advice on this issue.

Hi, first off, I do not pretent to know much about 4 bladed props. I would suggest that you check the owners manuel for WOT range. You did not state which motor you have, but as a ruel of thumb, usually WOT is higher tham 5300 RPM, but check owners manuel to make sure. You might want to drop the pitch of the prop to 17 inch. this will give you approx. 200 more RPM. better hole shot and better top end.
