Hourmeter for 50 HP, 2 Stroke

I just purchased a 50 HP Yamaha 2 stroke, with Tach only.
I would like recommendations for a maintenance hourmeter.

I've seen some that are small and the lead wraps around plug wire.

Also, what about just installing and electrical one that records when the key is on ???

Yamaha's Pro Series hour meter(6Y5-83504-11-00) will record time engine is running. It cost more than aftermarket meters but works better than those that record time by way of key switch.
