Wanted to share this info so nobody has to spend more time in the repair shop than in the water. I had my lower unit rebuilt at Yamaha dealer. Dealer put plastic Yamaha gasket in gear oil drain/fil plugs. When I pulled the boat out of the water in fall noticed water in gear oil. Took boat back to dealer and dealer contacted Yamaha for help. Yamaha suggested replacing plastic gasket with a fiber one. They were right on the money, no more water in gear oil.It's amazing the grief a $.75 gasket can cause. Hope this helps somebody out.
