  • 86 ProV 150 Float Drop

I have a question about setting the float drop on a 1986 ProV 150 with dual float Nikki carburetors. I have a Seloc book that shows the float drop being set at 12-13mm. The measurement is taken with the carburetor upside down, (the needle against the seat). The tang on the back of the float used for adjustment looks like the measurement should be taken with the floats hanging, (hence the term "float drop"). Would like to know the proper way to set the floats and what the measurement should be. Thanks

I set the floats with the carb upside down, measuring from the bowl/carb body mating surface to the bottom of the float, should be about 16mm +/- .5mm . If its not set correctly you run the risk of flooding the cylinder. The float ends up looking just about level with the carb upside down. If you take the air cover off and look in the carb throats with the motor running and see raw fuel droplets squirting into the carb throat you probably set the floats too high.
