97 Yamaha ProV200 carb pilot screws

What does the pilot screws on a carbed Yamaha regulate,gas or air going through carb.My 200 pilot screws were backed out to about 3 turns. (Maybe vibrated out?)From my understanding the pilot screws will not dictate mid range and hi range performance. I am going to reset to spec and see if performance improves,been running good,just cold natured and a little rough idle.Just do not want to lean out and burn pistons.Carbs never been tore down and cleaned but sea foam stays in gas regularly.

The screws themselves regulate air mixture in the idle circuit. Just set them to specs. Or, if you want to screw them all the way out and spray some carb cleaner into the holes to clean them out, then set them to specs.

if idleing bad, you probably need to resynce the carbs.
