Stiff shifting Yamaha F225

I have a 704 control box twin engines. One of the controls if very soft shifting and the other is very stiff to engage (FW or Rev). The engines are 2003 and only have 226hrs, do you think the problem is the shifting cable? Any test easy to perform?

there was a recall on bushings but it was just on the throttle linkage. sounds like a cable to me. disconnect both port and starboard shift cables from the motors and compare. it could just be to tight of a bend also.

sometimes youll get corrosion on the motor side cable ends, check there also.

Thanks for the feedback I will definitely take a look and try your recommendations. I can let you know that the starboard cable looks like it has a different route and close bend at the bracket. I will try and will post the results.
