I have struggled with the engine cover on my Yamaha
T9.9 ever since buying it in 2002. There is a cut
out in the engine body to receive a matching tab on
the front of the cover. The rear of the cover is closed last with a swinging latch, which works ok for me. However, I can see the rubber gasket is not
closing fully in the front of the cover. I tried bending the front tab, but it is too stiff. It does
not line up with the hole in the engine body. This tab is held to the cover by two rivets. This seems
like a manufacturing defect. Should I go back to
Yamaha and demand a new cover?
