Oil change confusion??

I changed my oil today, when looking at the manual, its says to fill oil level to "in between the marks" I have never noticed this before as there is an upper level mark on the dipstick and I just asumed to fill to that upper level mark? anyway, I am now worried that I over filled it...arent you supposed to fill to the top mark on the dipstick? If I have to I guess I can siphon some out? anyway is this cause for concern? and what do you guys do? I have an 2005 50 four stroke...Thanks guys! Bill

well the correct oil level is about two thirds up between the marks. how new is this motor and how many hours do you have on it? if you have less then 10 hours, only fill it half way between the marks due to the engine "making oil" during break-in.

Motor was brand new in march, it now has about 35 to 40 hours on it...Thanks
