I have a 1984(guessing) Yamaha Model 220AETO. I'm guessing it's a 220hp engine, based on the model number, but haven't found anything but 200hp engines for that year. I've been trying to verify the year of the engine and where I might get parts. The engine was rebuilt in 1999(per previous owner), but the shop is no longer in business. Any feedback(hopefully positive) would be appreciated. Thanks...

The only 220hp engines Yamaha sold here in the US had a model number of V6-SPECIAL_LK.

Based on boats.net reply, could this be an 'international' engine? If so, can you suggest where to go to get info on the engine and perhaps get parts?? My electric power trim motor is failing. I've done the tests recommended by you to another member and it is the electric motor.
Did this year motor have an electronic computer like the later models? thanks.....

It's hard to say. Yamaha started selling motors here in US in 1984 and there were motors with the AETO model number but there is no 220hp motors listed in the parts book except for the V6-Special which was a 220hp with computer.

The model # is 220AETO, the serial# is 667 L 300454. No 'N' anyplace. I found somewhere on the internet where Yamaha had 'EXCEL' and 'PRO' engines with AETO as part of the model number. I wasn't concerned at the time and now can't find the site. Does 'EXCEL' and 'PRO' mean anything to someone??? This engine does not have or is missing the computer.
Thanks for the input.....

The EXCEL(model number V6EXCEL) was sold in 1987-1989 it was a 225hp Computerized engine, it taken the place of the V6_Special. The "PRO" model's were motors designed for Bass boats or high speed hulls, they are 20" shaft length and most have higher gear ratio's. The "PRO" is same as the "P" or "VMAX" models.
