Rubber plug over pilot jet...

Hey guys! This is my first post on here. I was cleaning the carb on my 30 today, and the rubber plug that goes over the pilot jet fell into the carb cleaner somehow. It expanded a LOT and it got really soft and brittle. So now I need a new one, but I am wondering if I really need that plug on there? What does it really do? I will get a new one, it is just going to take to long for me to get it before I go fishin...Thanks y'all!

Alrighty. That is what I figured, but I was a little in denial I guess...haha...
