Throttle Tension Adjustment ??

I have a 1997 90hp Yamaha two-stroke with factory controls. The controls will not hold a moderate to high speed setting . Engine is smooth and resposive but throttle controls need more tension. A cursory look inside the control housing did not offer any obvious clues. Where and how do you adjust so that you can keep both hands on the wheel. Thanks in advance for your time. Bob T.

if its a 704 top mount, then remove the top black cover to expose the aluminum stud/tensioner. if its a 703, as i remember, it is under keyswitch aand choke button.

if it is a 703 box, it is in the front and not the rear by the key switch. its a regular slotted screw head sticking out about 1/8th inch.
