  • 225 hpdi shift shaft

Good evening everyone. I am replacing all the bushings in the motor bracket and I am having a hard time figuring out how to remove the shift shaft so that i can seperate the bracket and replace the two big center bushings inside the bracket. I have the power head and foot off already. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

From my recollection of a fading memory a bracket holding the shift shaft in place is unbolted. The shift shaft then pulls out.

Thanks for the reply. I just figured it out. The bushings were so worn out that when i unbolted everything it pushed the bracket to one side and was pinning it in and I didnt notice it at first. I have been a master auto technician for over 30 years and this is just a cluster f#$%. Sure hope i remember where all this crap goes lol

That's why you should take plenty of photographs, they are cheap and immediate these days.
