I have a 99 t9.9elhx. pulled the power head yesterday and am cleaning the water jackets.18 years in salt water, lots of build-up but motor still runs like a watch.my question is what is the procedure for removing and installing the brass nipple fittings on side of head? Thank you for any thoughts or suggestions

They are a push fit, no thread. Fragile so difficult to remove without breaking them, main risk is them snapping off leaving a core in the head. Suggest pour boiling water over everything and then squirt plumbers freeze over just the nipple and wiggle back and fore with a mole grip.
If they look ok and you can clean the crud out (pipe cleaner useful here) then I would not try to remove them at all.
