  • F300 2015 VST Draining for Winterizing

I would like to drain the VST and the fuel cup ahead of it prior to running the winterizing mix through the engine to expedite the procedure and not have to have the engine running on muffs any longer than needed.

Had a look at the port side of the engine and went as far as removing the intake a gaining a look at the VST. How much is involved in removing and emptying it and then replacing it.

    Thanks

Does the F300 VST have a drain screw? You had better prime it properly with the bulb prior to running with the mix.

I have some pics I will look for to verify the drain screw. First time through this rodeo - 1st Yamaha.

Priming the VST with the bulb is definitely part of the plan.

      Thanks

The VST has a drain screw and a drain tube. Usually accessible between intake manifold runners.

Just route the tube outside of the runners into a small bucket. Open the drain valve a turn or two. The primer ball can be used to pump the winterizing mix into the system (and the existing fuel out of the system) until the mix starts to flow out of the VST. Close the VST drain spigot and then pump the ball as much as it will take. Run the motor on the mix for however long you wish.

            Oh this is awesome.

Thanks so much for this schematic and procedure.

Is the drain tube light pink? Is the screw the drain valve you mentioned in your earlier post?

              Thanks

                Yes. To both questions.

Opened the drain screw and less than an ounce dribbled out of the pink drain tube.

Obviously the tank has more than that in it. Is there a vent of some sort to get the tank empty.

                    Thanks

there is a small black rubber plug on the VST tank cover.
remove it and depress the Schrader valve in to vent the tank to allow it to drain.
plug has a small tab on it for getting needle nose pliers on it.

One other quick question. Does "cup" fuel filter just ahead of VST tank just screw off after the mount bracket is removed.

                        Thanks again.

in theory yes it screws off. sometimes E fuels lock it in place and you will destroy the cup removing it.

                            Okay gotcha there.

Back to the vent for the VST tank. Do I have to take intake - plastic off to see that black rubber plug?

nope ya just gotta look carefully.
it has a tab and is about the size of a pencil eraser.
