flogging 2012 f90 4 stroke 90hp

I have just read that one is suppose to flog the engine by using a small gas tank with the flogging additive added. Is this correct? I have used the spray in the intake port but is this wrong? If the small tank is to be used and run for 10 minutes where do you attach the hose to? Any reason not to simply use the spray?

cause you simply cannot spray and make the spray run up the top 3 intake runners.
that is why we fog with a fuel mix.
