YDS cable and software

I now own twin 2007 - Yamaha 250hp 4 strokes... so I would like to " be prepared" and purchase a YDS cable and diagnostic software .. There are a number of vendors on e-bay selling these ... aftermarket I am sure ... anyone have any experience , or suggestions . or advise. . The use of this type of equipment is a little new to me .. I was just getting used to my ox66's and never even used my winky blinky !!

I bought the eBay YDS ver. 1.33 CD and interface cable a few years ago -
came from Luxembourg? Latvia? can't recall

its worked fine with my 2005 F225 and 2006 F90
the drivers even automatically updated when I went to Win 10
(was it XP at first? can't recall that either)

haven't "needed" it - but have enjoyed using it to experiment with...

Pretty in-expensive too...

After I believe the model year 2011, it's different so just make sure
you get the appropriate unit for your engine..

Same as Fairdeal, hadn't had to use it but neat to check things..

are the ones on e-bay any good ? does Yamaha sell an oem package , software and cable ?

Seems that most on here use the "knock-off" versions purchased from vendors other than Yamaha. 1.33 is an old version. I forget the latest version number.

I think Yamaha said that owners of motors do not need them, so will not sell to owners.
that is why others have taken up to selling of stuff that may or may not be right for the motor

Yep. Yamaha US sold the hardware and software years ago and then one day up and decided it was not something that should be in the hands of an owner.

Not sure why but I think the thinking was that folks being able to take care of their own motors would take work away from Yamaha US dealers.

Yamaha Japan probably told Yamaha US to cut it out.

cause most folks simply don't understand whaat the codes mean.
they go buy a part cause the computer said it was bad.
idiots.
the computer only said it did not like the input. said noting about what the issue is.
the puter twixt your ears does the trouble shooting.
the laptop just gives information faster.

Get the latest version you can find on EBay.
