Just started to cool down here. Water temp was 81.8 last weekend. 74 today. 68 is ideal for trout here.....

I went twice after storm we caught 7 keeper trout and 2 keeper reds the 1st time, but the next week the tides were super high , only caught one undersized trout that day.
last 2 weeks I ran up to the farm when cool fronts came thru to work around there.
Stuck the tractor the 1st trip.
unstuck it the second, and got most of the fences cleaned up and repaired.
burned some large brush piles the 1st trip, one was still moldering the next week
manual for the old ford 3600 says it has a differential lock, but there is no peddle or anything I can find to push or pull.
ended up jacking the left rear wheel up with a floor jack and wood blocks against the top of wheel rim.
lots of plywood and boards to crawl out.
Will not go back on the side of that hill after heavy rain and floods for a year after from now on -
Took about 3 weeks post storm for the water to clear up here in Tampa. It was coffee color. This factor, as well as the storm itself, caused bait to relocate. Bait has moved back in and the fish that eat the bait have followed right behind. Snook fishing has been hot here. Haven't seen the number of reds on the flats as I usually see this time of year. Water temp still hanging on in the low 80's. I recon this cold front we're getting this week will drop it into the 70's. Readying my kingfish gear as I speak, or type.Jason

The trout Yam and I catch are Speckled Sea Trout. They normally don't get huge. 20" around here is a nice fish. 14" minimum length. Red drum get big, sometimes over 35". Keepers between 14 and 23 inches here.Originally posted by panasonic View Post

Down here in Tx the trout are specks
also called spotted sea trout, or speckled trout.
slot that you can keep is anything 15" and above, only able to keep one 25" and above each day.
daily limit where I mainly fish is 5,
East of Sargent swing bridge the daily limit is 10

Panasonic,I believe, is in Newfoundland.
We probably take mild weather for granted. You might have four good months up there for outdoor activities. I used to hunt deer in VA and it was plenty cold.

only had a few wires break this time, but a lot of the tee posts got pushed down or broke off.
lots of stuff had to be pulled off the fences so we could stand them back up.
only 3 trees we had to cut up to get them off this time.
this fence line has not been cleared completely and rebuilt since the 70's.
we are thinking hard about having it bulldozed and put a new fence, but the last 3 years the creek has flooded 5 times.
without the trees and brush along the fence to help support it, the floods may take the whole thing out if we put all new inComment

ponds (lakes...has to be 20-30 miles long here for that name) We just call them sea trout and I have fished for them in salt water at river mouths. Usually fly fish for them.
We have Speckled, and Rainbow trout as well. Artic Char and Atlantic salmon are by far the best fish I like to catch and eat..Comment

Speckled Sea Trout are found in the salt water estuaries. I like to fish them in the salt marsh near oyster beds. They are found in various places depending on the time of year. I like shallow water with live shrimp with a popping cork. They are aggressive sight feeders. Muddy water will not work. They also prefer moving water.Originally posted by panasonic View PostComment
