1990 Yamaha 225 ETLD oil pump adapter.

I am trying to find the adapter for the newer oil tank assy to connect to my motor, I purchased the 6YR-W0035-95-00 kit and bought the 6R3-82541-10
adapter and it will connect to the oil tank assy but not to the motor connector. The motor connector is a male and the adapter connector is also a male. Is there something I am missing here? I was looking at the 6R3-82541-00 adapter but the same problem looks like will occur on the oil assy connector side.

Are you sure that you are trying to use the correct motor connector? There is a similar round connector but it is used for the gauges.

I was assuming the adapter was suppose to connect to the same green plug. This is a picture I took before I unplugged the old oil kit.

Looks to me like the adapter should connect to the black connector. The one with the black/red wire, black wire, blue wire and brown wire.

Thanks I will try connecting it to that one. I just assumed the connector would be the same color but I guess not?

You know what they say about assume don't you?

Yamaha jumps around with wire colours and connector colours. Little is consistent with them.
