yamaha f60 motor dies in neutral

Hey guys having problems with my outboard its an FT60DET it will run fine all day but as soon as i put it back into neutral it will die instantly it will then take a lot of effort to restart the motor once started will run fine again until i drive somewhere and then put it back into neutral hoping someone has had the same problem and will be able to help.

Just like to add that motor will cutout after a burst of acceleration and then put back to neutral but can slow ***** around and then back to neutral without problem.

I would start by checking and possibly replacing the fuel line.
sounds like you might have an air leak causing you to lose pressure
at low rpm's

Motor is a FT60DET 6C6 L 1011346 G

Also since putting up this post i have found that the problem only occurs when shifting back to neutral after accelerating but if i shut off the motor with the key while still in drive it will startup and idle without a problem.

I don't have info on a non US market motor. however check to see if your model uses a shift cut switch on the shift slide. if it does carefully check it.
it only cuts ign during a shift from an in gear to N motion.

Hi. I had same problem exactly. Turned out to be idle air control (iac). Had that replaced and instantly fine. Wasn't cheap. Manifold had to come off and expensive part. All up cost me about $1000.00. Good luck.
