Upgrade 4hp 4-stroke to 8hp? Crazy thoughts?

Hey there, new to these forums...

Been doing some reading that a 4hp can be improved to 6 with a new carb and exhaust manifold, and the same can be done from 6 to 8...

Does anyone know of the feasibility of attempting to double the output from the 4hp with the 8hp parts?

Compare the F4 model to be modified with a similar year F8 to determine the part number differences.

Remove the F4 parts that are not used on the F8.

Buy and add the F8 peculiar parts to the F4.

Voila, you are done. An F4 converted to an F8.

I had an idiot mate that converted a 5hp Evinrude to a 30hp once using that method!
I did say he was an idiot, after changing all the individual parts he discovered that only the spark plugs were the same, and it cost him four times as much as buying the 30hp already assembled.
Needless to say it crumpled his inflatable at quarter throttle.
