Gauges and Controls

Hello,

I am in the process of rebuilding a 1989 Bayliner 1902 Capri Cuddy and plan to repower it with a Yamaha F115XB.

I would like to rig it with the Yamaha 6X3 Flush-Mount Control. My question here: What parts do I require in order to make it a plug and play installation so that no splicing of wires is required?

In addition to that question, since I am totally re-configuring the dashboard, what gauge configuration is the best option for a plug and play installation?

As each configuration (analog vs. digital) has its Pros and Cons, personal preference will be a factor when making a decision on what to purchase. What I am looking for is a "best choice" recommendation for optimum reliability as well as ease of installation and maximum operational functionality.

If it matters, my operating environment will be saltwater.

go with the command link package.
just the fuel flow will save you money once you learn how to use it.

I may go with the command link, but I am a little apprehensive in going digital for the reason of mechanical reliability. Plus, in the event that one of the functions goes out, having to replace the entire unit vice a single analog gauge, or if while out on the water the command link goes dark, you loose all your vitals. Longevity of service is a concern.

I was reluctant to go with power windows, power brakes, fuel injection, electronic ignition and cruise control decades ago. More to go wrong.

Cars today with all of this stuff, and more, have never been more reliable.

I have seen FAR more analog gauges fail than Yam digital.

Expensive they are but seem to be bullet proof.

power windows and seats back in the early 70s seemed to have a lot of problems so I avoided them. but sure are nice to have now a days
