F25 4Stroke Starting Issue

I have a 1998 25hp 4stroke electric start outboard. Each time when I start the engine the starter hesitates to engage and I have to push the starter button 2-3 times to engage the starter. When it does engage and start I hear a banging sound. Has anyone had this same issue? What is the cause?

Can you possibly post a video of what is happening? Banging noise from a running engine is not good..a video would be very helpful...

Will do. It only happens initially when the the engine cranks over.
