Help with a stuck woodruff key

Help, i am replacing most of the parts on the water pump of my 225 Vmax and I cannot get the woodruff key to come out of the drive shaft. The thing is really stuck. Anybody have any ideas how to get it out so I can pull the lower plate off of there.

I usually just pound the crap out of it with a metal punch and hammer. The new kit comes with a new one. You can try something like JB Blaster and heat if you have it handy.

yes they can be a pain...flat center punch and hammer, i hold the punch with visegrips, push from top down and in,and try not to blow out the slot in the shaft too much.

Try a chisel on the top side of the woodruff key.
Put the chisel edge between the key and the driveshaft. Tap lightly.
I usually squirt some liquid wrench on the key and let it soak for an hour before I take the chisel to it.
