  • Oil Filter Clogging

The owner's manual says that the "warning for oil filter clogging is similar to the warnings for low oil and overheating." Does this mean that the warning is the same, or does system have a unique warning for clogging? This is for a 200 TXRR Precision Blend warning system. Thanks.

There is no unique warning for an oil filter (strainer) clogging in a two stroke Yamaha. What happens is that a clogged strainer inhibits or prevents the flow of oil from the boat tank to the engine tank. If and when the engine tank gets low on oil then the warning horn will sound.

The sound of the alarm buzzer is the same for low oil quantity or over temperature. A steady tone. A Yamaha multi-function tachometer will let the user know if the horn in low oil or over temperature.

Thanks. That makes sense. The manual was a little vague and it occurred to me that there could be a set of conditions unique to clogging that the system could identify, i.e. ample remote oil, low main oil, etc. that would show differently on the tach. But, no.
