  • Yamaha 2006 F40TLR Flywheel / Rotor Assembly

    Does anybody know the correct ft lbs of torque for this flywheel / Rotor? Also, if I change the flywheel will that affect the timing?

    No, it won't change the timing.

    Make sure all your cams and crank line up properly as you assemble..

    Someone else will chime in with the torque spec..

          Pound-feet.....

          Foot-pound" is sometimes also used as a unit of torque (see pound-foot (torque)). In the United States this unit is often used to specify, for example, the tightness of a bolt or the output of an engine. Although they are dimensionally equivalent, energy (a scalar) and torque (a vector) are distinct physical quantities. Both energy and torque can be expressed as a product of a force vector with a displacement vector (hence pounds and feet); energy is the scalar product of the two, and torque is the vector product.

              As does 99.9% of the world, in-correctly, technically, however it's the SAME THING, SAME TORQUE, etc.

                I always knew it as ft/lbs and even my Yamaha Service Manual states it as ft/lb!!!

                  Every manual I ever used, motorcycle, car, snowmobile, Aircraft and Outboard all use FT/LBS...don't think it is going to change now...Things change over time sometimes all be it right or wrong.
