OK I need to know what that was in there.
seems I saw a thread asking about some waxy type of substance plugging the Tell tail on a motor. and I could not think of what could get into a motors cooling water passages to plug it up like that

Sand. Guy was reported to be using the motor to power load his boat onto a trailer. Plowing through sand apparently to get the boat and motor onto the trailer.

Other parts of the motor were also found to be laden with sand, silt and other debris.

        Thanks,
that looked to be too formed after taking it apart to be just sand, But I guess heat and time may have compacted the sand where it did not just fall apart.

still wonder what that waxy stuff the other tread poster had in his cooling system

                  Yamaha on Water Pressure

FYI - From the Yamaha website FAQ
What is the minimum water pressure required for my Yamaha outboard(s)?
All Yamaha outboards have a minimum water pressure of eleven (11) psi at Wide Open Throttle (WOT). There are no announced water pressure specs for low or mid-range operation at this time. This is due to our high volume low pressure cooling system design. In fact, you may see zero pressure at idle, as most water pressure sensors start working at 3-psi.

So test at WOT and see what you get. Water temperature is a better monitor of the cooling system. On my F150 the temperature warning and power reduction does not kick in until the motor hits 266°.... While normal operating temperature is 136-144°. Mine usually operates on the lower end of that range but I am on a small lake so I don't have long runs.

I may have seen that, but thanks for the reminder, Ray.

The interesting thing here, was the difference in where the pressure was measured.
I knew I wasn't installing the sensor where Yamaha said to put it -

but I thought I was being "clever".

                    Haha. So much for that.

found it, but I do not remember all of this

                      Lyrics:

                      Mutilated monkey meat
                      Hairy pickled piggy feet
French fried eyeballs floating in some kerosene
                      And me without a spoon.

                      Vulture vomit, camel snot
Deep dish boogers soaking in a bowl of fat
                      And me without a spoon.

Yea, being clever is like some of my "good ideas" which are usually just that and should be left alone....but we never learn.

I am sure it would have worked on some motors, just not your big F225
