      Also thought about fitting a rubber stopper with a hole through it. Put a hose barb through the hole and see if it wouldn't stick.

        Are there any threads left (even tore up)? It doesn't take much to hold that fitting in.

        I'd do that before the rubber stopper.

        Worse case, some JB Weld on the threads and let it dry over night..
        It won't be going anywhere..

          I have the same problem - my research (unconfirmed as of this post) is that the thread is a 1/8" -28 BSPT British standard pipe thread tap - TAPERED, not straight.
