1993 200trxx pressure control valve grommet

When I was changing the pressure control valve, the grommet fell inside the housing and into the engine. I can't get it out, I ordered new gaskets to take it all apart (I think it's the exhaust) to get it out of there. Before I disassemble, do I need to or will it blow out the exhaust? I have no problem doing it but I don't want to if it isn't a problem.

most people that do that fish it out with a wire rigged as a hook

I'm not sure how to do that. I can't see it in the hole, that's what worries me. I tried blowing compressed air up the water tube in hopes of at least getting it in site. I think I knocked it down in there farther with the needle nose when I tried to grab it. I could try a piece of wire in a hook first, how far down can it actually fall?

I would try to fish it out. Then try some more. Disassembly should be a last

resort on that 24 year old motor, especially if you use it near the coast. There

are a few posts on here about retreiving that grommet.

Tape a section of hose to the nozzle on a vacuum cleaner

wont fall far.
it is in that pocket.
fish it out with a wire.
I fish them a few times a year.
I only charge 100 bucks for the fishing trip.

You're not kidding. I actually made a loop on the end of the wire when I was installing it so if it did fall in again it'd be caught by the wire. Worked great. Thanks again
