But the switch in the engine tank should set off the audible alarm..correct?

if drained down until SW3 switchs to ON, yes the alarm sounds.
if SWB is closed(remote tank) and SW3 closes then you get an audible.
3 bars flashing and the transfer pump turns on 180 seconds.
      SW1, oil transfer pump off.
      SW2 oil transfer pump on.
SW3 oil transfer pump on,audible on far left bar on.
      RPM reduction.

SWB remote tank, on far right green light/bar.
SWB off(open) center bar on no automatic oil transfer.

......SW3 oil transfer pump on,audible on far left bar on.
        RPM reduction......

So this is what occurs on my port motor when I drained the oil but NO audible sounded......despite the fact that an audible does sound when I perform the Lanyard test........that is...pull Lanyard....crank engine and put key in on position.

Well....tested it this weekend after changing the float switch in the engine oil tank. The motor ran flawlesslh for 200 miles....no speed drop at all...so the switch must have been bad.

I'm pretty sure the problem is now officially fixed. We again ran the boat 200 miles this past weekend with NO issues or speed drop. It would seem that replacing the float sensor in the tank on the motor cured the problem. What a headache.
