SDS spacer
The company I work for has about 18 2010 f-350 yamaha's and they have Power-tech props but they are using the yamaha SDS spacer 6AW459971000. It has the two different sized ears on opposite sides. We have had a lower unit fail (325hrs) and I am curious about the spacer since it is not balanced and not made for the Power Tech props.

The 6AW dog eared spacer was designed to be used with the first batch of SDS propellers. For the V8 F300/F350. Other models used a similar but different dog eared spacer.
The spacer is not applicable to other propeller brands/models. As far as I know anyway. I don't understand how it is being used with a Power Tech propeller, unless that is a particular propeller made to simulate a Yamaha SDS propeller.

It is only being used as a spacer and that is all. I think they need to replace them with regular spacers and get rid of the SDS spacer but they have been told by the local Yamaha rep that the SDS spacers won't hurt the lower units when used with ANY prop.
