  • Yamaha LF225 2003 (water getting into crankcase)

The motor I have is getting water into the crankcase, but not in the cylinders. I have the lower unit off and when I put water directly to the water tube with motor running or not, it gets in fairly quick. Is there a way to check the oil pan gasket without pulling the powerhead? Any help is appreciated. Thank You, Brian (Knoxville, TN)

Have you removed the lower unit and looked up within the exhaust system as far as you can see? What does it look like?

Has the power plant been lifted from the frame yet?

Has the motor been updated with the new exhaust system yet?

From what I can tell which is very little, everthing is ok.

No, the power plant is still bolted.

I recently purchased boat so not sure about the new exhaust, but I would assume not.

      Thank You

Based on your testing so far, that powerhead needs to come off. Get a service manual if you plan on doing this on your own.

May also need to flood that case with oil to attempt to drive out any remaining water first.
