  • 2003 Yamaha 225 4 stroke (re installing camshafts)

Hello. I'm putting the camshafts on both heads back in and I would like to know how to line them up or if anyone has a diagram they would share. Thank You, Brian

you will find detailed instructions in the Yamaha service manual.
done many of them but I don't have the manual in front of me here at home.

it covers setting up the crank, lining up both banks cams and cam drive chains and sprockets/.

luckily this is a clearance motor.
screw it up and it means you get to try again.
most other 4 strokes if you screw it up it bends valves and rods.

Unless a cam shaft breaks. Doh!

Yamaha tells the mechanics that breaking cam shafts or breaking cam shaft belt tensioners is not covered by any warranty. I suspect the mechanics tell the customers that it was time for new parts anyhow.
