Another thought.
Some Yam models having an IAC valve also have what Yamaha calls the Variable *****ing System (VTS). A switch tells the ECU to raise or lower the idle RPM in 50 RPM increments, in which case I presume the ECU sends a ground to the valve to tell it to open or lower a tad. I think.
If the valve were not responsive as it should be, maybe the RPM change would not occur as it should. Could VTS be used as a trouble shooting procedure for the valve? A crafty fellow like our very own Mr. Fairdeal could quickly prove this theory to be busted, plausible or confirmed.
