I used to clean Fuel nozzles on jet engines. These engines have monitoring trends which are computer recorded. When the power starts to decline the first thing done is a compressor wash, more air flow with clean compressor, this is the easiest, next step is fuel nozzle cleaning.
The nozzles are flow checked in a calibrated machine. If low flow, into the ultrasonic cleaner, then checked again. 9 times out of 10 they will flow properly. Reinstall in engine and more than likely the engine will perform as per specifications.
Ultrasonic cleaners work, the proof is in the pudding as they say.
