  • Symptoms of bad LP fuel Pumps in OX66

99 225 Ox66 seems to want to idle around 500-600 rpms then dies. At 700 rpms, it runs beautifully. Every component of my fuel system is brand new....tank, lines, Yamaha primer bulb, all filters including the VST and water separator.

I have no idea when or if the LP pumps have been serviced or replaced. I keep reading that this should be a regular maintenance item??

One note....this engine has been laid up for a couple of years while the boat has been rebuilt. It started on the fifth try and runs well at 700+ rpms. The fuel bulb has not been checked while the engine is running. Should it be "rock hard" or "squishy"?

Found the problem....the middle pump had a ruptured diaphragm and the screws in all three pumps were a rusted mess. Ethanol fuel has played hell with the metal springs.

water is what causes rust, but as you said the e fuel tends to grab water out of the air.
sounds like the pumps need to be done from time to time.

I think Rodbolt said in the past every 3 or 3 years maybe is a good idea
