  • Fabric cover good idea ?

    Guys,

My F25 / jon boat is parked out in the weather - due to a change in available garage space. I'm starting to notice a little dulling of paint on top of the cowling and am wondering about a fabric cover. Is there any downside to these things ?

    Thanks,

    JB

I could take some pics of motors that never had protection. Ugly!
Cover it! The sun is tough on everything.

Thanks - that is my thought, but just wondered about added condensation etc.

Think I may go the Bass Pro route vs Yamaha ...... big $ difference

I think I paid 10-15 bucks for mine.

yes, and other than that priceless Yamaha logo, I'm not sure that the fabric is better - or even as good.

when I bought my second-hand boat I "inherited" an "official" Yamaha cover

very pretty - multilayer with a soft inner lining - but the exterior didn't hold up to a few years in the Florida sun!

the el cheapo generic from Bass Pro is doing much better in that regard

Most any type of fabric sorta draped over/wrapped around held on with bungee cords will keep the sunlight/UV off your motor....

I keep up on waxing my hood and so far it still looks new. I can't imagine how a breathable cover can be bad, though.
