The tank ,fuel water separator, then there is an aluminum piece I believe is a reducer (not sure what that does) then to the motor. I put the plastic tube between the tank and the motor mounted I watched it and when the lift pump cycled off the line would go empty. The cup did fill up and down. The pressure relief valve never seemed to close, only when the pump cycled off. As soon as the pump came on it was open. When I sea trial the motor, started fine when I got to about 3k rpms it started to die.

Thanks for helping me with video. I will be at the boat again and take picture. I will describe it as follows; its mounted in my bilge area after the fuel filter it has a larger diameter hose on one side and the Yamaha fuel hose on the other to the motor.

This is the aluminum piece I described. It has 2 or 3 wires attached to the bottom of it and I don't know what they do. ( I tried to attach a photo but it keeps failing. I will try again to upload the photo soon.)

Took off fuel water separator. The gasket seems that it wasn't fitting right. It was hard to get off. Is it possible that I over tightened the fuel water separator resulting in a crush gasket that this letting in air?

                  marchmadness,

Please keep posting your results. There are MANY others, me among them, who have fought this exact same issue, with inconclusive results.

This aluminum gadget sounds like a fuel flow sensor. Especially if it has a couple wires coming out of it.

Something else that could be a culprit too.....

OK I have two good pictures that I try to upload to show you and I keep on getting an error so I can put them up yet..so I found that the fuel filter gasket had come loose from the filter and I might have over tighten the filter causing it to go out of shape. I'm only trying to fix one thing at a time so I can determine what the real problem is. I was unable to get the boat out of the water today but I'm gonna go try tomorrow . I believe those aluminum brackets are fuel flow sensors I have a fuel management system on my Yamaha's I will post again when I find out if this was a fix or not.

                        Todays update

Ok todays update;after shut done at around 3500rpms It started to die but came back. So after that I used the primer ball first. After three pumps the ball became hard. Before start I looked under the hood and the filter cup was full .So my feeling is if the primer ball gets hard I shouldn't have any more fuel leaks? I feel that the vst is still running empty? I'm thinking the relief valve is staying open?

how can it start to die if it already shut down?

And I thought you were looking for an air leak not a fuel leak

Today it never really shut down . Maybe I have more than one problem. I have a fuel starvation issue. I changed the primer ball and water separator and now the primer ball will stay hard when pumped. Sorry let me clarify I ran the motor and shut it down and drifted for around 30 minutes. When I started back up I was around 3500 rpms ,it dropped down to 3100 and back up.

if there is air still being sucked into the fuel system you need to find out where

If I had an air leak would I get the primer ball hard? if air could get in wouldn't gas be pushed out?
