  • Anyone know what this spring goes to?

I was doing preventative maintenance on my 04 Yamaha Z200TXRC and noticed this spring laying down on the inside of the motor compartment. It has a flexible rubber sleeve around it. Anybody recognize it and what it does? Thanks!

Only a guess, but maybe something to do with the hood release mechanism? If you're lucky, the part of the one hook-end that broke off will still be hanging in it's original position, making it easier to figure out. Look for a small wire cable just lying around? If not, look through the parts diagrams for your motor.

That looks more important than a hood release spring...

2004 Z200TXRC Yamaha Outboard FUEL PUMP DRIVE GEAR Diagram and Parts

                    Fuel pump drive spring.

Maybe 30 seconds of searching the parts look up.

Its a two stroke, NO cams/ cam belts..

But what is it's purpose? Is the pump belt going to fly off any moment?

Hoping Rod might explain further this morning...

Put the crack pipe down and step away from the computer!

It is a two stroke. The belt drives a cam shaft. It is a cam shaft drive belt.

What might a spring pulling on a tensioner do?

It keeps tension on the belt. As you posted, like your Toyota but out in the open and a regular spring. (Yesterday I had to re-set a 4 stroke cam belt on a Ryobi weed eater (new customers machine. Jumped two teeth-NO tensioner)...

It is a two stroke. The belt drives a cam shaft. WHERE? It is a cam shaft drive belt.
Plz point me out a CAM SHAFT. There is NO cam shaft for this set up.

It is not a cam shaft, it's a ROLLER tensioner that uses a spring.

                              This ain't brain surgery.
