  • CL Speed Sensor = CL Cooling Water Sensor ?

so, according to the "2014 Rigging Guide"

the actual sensor used is the same, whether for the pitot tube speed,

    or the cooling water pressure

is this correct? or a misprint? or its just my dislexia ?

seems odd - IIRC cooling water pressure may approach 30 psi at high rpms

have no idea what kind of psi the pitot tube sees -

but I would not think it in the same range as the water pump output

The sensors are one and the same part number. Connect it to the harness with the W and it indicates Water pressure. Connect it to the harness with the S and it indicates Speed thru water.

What is needed is for a crafty person to measure the output voltage on the sensor when used for water pressure, and note the voltage as a function of varying water pressures. Someone with an NMEA 2000 MFD that can see water pressure and speed pressure. While measuring the output voltage for the same sensor when connected to the pitot tube to see how pitot pressure correlates to water pressure.

Might be easier to do it with a pressure pump.

as they are the same sensor and use the same 5Vref the readings at varios pressures will remain the same.
years ago I did simply swap my sensors and watched what the command link did but I cant remember other than the speed reading was off and the water pressure did funny things.
