  • F175xa isolater 2016

I have a brand new 2016 F175xa- I have finished install my batteries. 1 crank 1 house - 3 (36v) *****ing motor.. 5 total. I think I found the factory isolater lead and the correct part number for the plug that I need to plug into the factory lead and run to house battery- but I have had 2 dealers and both said they have never heard of this "lead". So kind of winging this on my own. Part number I believe is the correct plug is 69J-81949-02-00.. Pics are what I believe is the factory isolater- it plugged into a holding bracket. Hopefully someone can help or point me in the right direction??

That is the connection point for the isolator lead that can be connected to the house battery. Dealers can't keep up with everything, particularly if they sell brands other than Yamaha.

The lead in the engine pan connects to the optional part number that you mention. 69J-81949-02-00.

Depicted in the Yamaha parts book for your motor as item 21 in this link

    69J-81949-02-00 YAMAHA WIRE, LEAD (ISOLAT

Note that the isolator lead is not fused at the battery end. Yamaha makes a version that is fused at the battery. Another option is to not use the isolator lead but to use a combiner between the start battery and the house battery. It will do the same thing. Charge the house battery when the engine running and stop charging it while the motor is not running, all the while making sure that the start battery cannot become discharged.

    You have options.

Thanks- I really appreciate the info- not to bad mouth Yamaha dealer guys- it was 4pm on Friday

I glad I was on the right track- so I have 2 choices to look at- run a wire from motor to house battery or- install the other between the batteries bypassing the motor. Any difference with amps- charging time between the 2 I wonder. Sometimes I will stop/fish use house battery for 2-3hrs and then only make a 15min run with motor. Not sure which is better if any- cost is about the same.

      thanks again for the info.

Some folks here have reported they removed the connector on the engine side cable so as to hard wire a section of marine AWG wire that runs to the house battery. For a fraction of the cost of the Yamaha isolator lead.

They should be along tomorrow morning.

            "moi?'

I'm not sure I would cut off the connector on a "brand new" motor -

had I known before I butt-spliced mine, where to purchase an appropriate connector, I would have gone that route

I suspect, but by no means certain, this is the matching connector for the Yamaha

No I don't want to cut that plug- heck I only have about 10hrs on it!.. So this is the plug that fits?.. ***- that helps a lot.. I am guessing I would use 6 awg for a run of about 5ft.. thanks for the help

I just read the plug info - 10awg is the biggest - but I believe that would work fine- I am still amazed that - I actually might get out for less than $20

hey - I said I suspect its the mating plug - but I am not certain

(stupidly, I destroyed mine trying to isolate the conductor)

in any case - I think 10 gauge is fine

but you should also splice in an inline fuse,

                  https://www.amazon.com/Parts-Express...older+-+10+AWG

                  plus a butt connector -
                  and a fuse
plus a ring terminal for the end
                  and some heat shrink...

Understand- looks real close.. Its worth the chance- the rest of the stuff I believe I have here at the house- My son has wired a few of those dang loud speakers in his truck and in my daughters car so I believe we have all the connectors/ inline fuses I need. Might have to get some wire but that's it. Heck he probably can do it more professional than I can- He's going to boot camp June 26th (Navy) for aviation electronics.

                    thx again

Ok- well I went the factory route and bought the yamaha part # 69J-81949-02-00 and the plug does not match? Anyone know the correct isolater plug for this newer F175xa?

                      Thx

According to the parts catalog that is the correct part number for your model motor.

I thought so also its a F175XA 10/16 date and number 1003906 which I believe that means 10/16 which is on the opposite side of motor..

Would more pics help figure this out? I can get some close ups of the plug and the one I bought?

Model is an F175XA. PID = 6FAX 1003906. 10/16 is the month and year of manufacture.
