Dear friends,
I have a 30d yamaha outboard purchased in Greece, Europe in 2004.
Recently i found a service manual and I started to read the timing settings.
This is what I found so far.
1. From 25 BTDC until TDC the piston movement is 3.70 mm instead of 3.55 stated in manual.
I dont know if this difference is important ... so this is my first question.
2. The full advanced magneto position is in TDC insted of 5 ATDC. Do you think its a good idea to change this setting?
3. And the most important question. Last year i removed the carbs for cleaning. I didnt setup the pickup timing setting and a friend told me to set it touching the throttle cam to the throttle roller while the magneto is in full retard position.
Since then i've noticed that the idle is ok but when while the rpm is rising (and in low rpm's) the motor is shaking more than before and in high rpm's its like before. Do you think this problem it's because of wrong pickup timing setting?
4. I've set up pilot screws according to specs but playing with them i didnt noticed any difference at idle. Is there any other method to optimize pilot screws settings?
5. The oil discharge test seems complicated... its important to do it every year?
Thank you
Bill
