  • 2014 F40LA smooth idle bogs down on acceleration

    27 May 2017 04:41

2014 Yamaha fuel injected 40hp with 35 hours. Smooth idle, excellent acceleration in neutral, excellent power in reverse, won't go above 2800 rpm in drive. Removed in line fuel filter before primer, installed new impeller (low pressure from pee hole). Recently shipped from Houston area to Lake Tahoe. Engine powers an 11'2 RIB

seems like a very big altitude change.
take to the local Yamaha shops to see if rejetting is required, probably is

The F40LA is fuel injected. It will make an adjustment for the change in altitude.

Was it working well in Houston?

Are you saying that it will run at 5000 RPM plus in reverse?

Acceleration in neutral means nothing. Unless someone just wants to always use the motor in neutral.

I was wondering about that myself.

          Ok another brain fart.

in forward there is need for more power than reverse or neutral.
Need to find out if one of the sensors is not doing its thing so the fuel is not being adjusted properly
