  • Nifty Equation To Estimate Prop Pitch<>RPM

Came across this equation to estimate max rpms for any pitch. No idea how accurate it is yet.

Current Prop Pitch ÷ Test Prop Pitch X Current Max RPMS = Test Max RPMS

    Ex: 21 ÷ 17 X 4500 = 5600

If somebody has recently changed pitch, do the math and let us know how accurate it is.

Does the number of blades enter into the calculation some how?

    What about diameter?

What about the geometry of the blades?

    Metal type?

      What about engine height?

      Saltwater or freshwater?

      ...etc

Too many variables involved to calculate an exact result. I recon that's why no exact equation exists. Otherwise propping would not be an art form.
