Can anyone tell me if the steering assy from a 2007 25 hp will fit on a 2002? It does look the same from the pictures. The one I am working on was modified and destroyed. The one I am looking to purchase has the engine bracket along with it. There may be some difference because the part number for the assy is different. The 2002 model part is nla. The one on Ebay looks just like mine here.

I see no part number for the complete assembly on the 2007 model , just the handle assembly. All we really need is the handle assembly with the controls wiring, cables kill switch etc. The one on ebay has the complete motor bracket with it. Our motor bracket is fine. It` just that someone morfidited this one and tried to exten the handle and cut wires and pretty much destroyed the handle. Ours is a 2002 25ms. The part number for the handle on these 2 shows to be different but look the same.Comment

Handle steering assembly part number for the 2007 25MSH is 6L2-W0084-11-4D.
Handle steering assembly part number for the 2002 25MSHA is 6L2-W0084-00-4D.
Steering handle part number for the 2007 25MSH is 6G1-42111-12-4D.
Steering handle part number for the 2002 25MSHA is 6G1-42111-11-4D.
With the exception of the 2002 25MSHA using a bolt, whereas the 2007 25MSH using a stud and nut in lieu of the bolt, all of the detail parts except for the handle itself, that make up the complete assembly are one and the same. The 2002 handle is a -11-4G part whereas the 2007 handle is a 12-4D part. This indicates supercedure to me.
I see nothing that indicates either handle assembly could not be used in place of the other handle assembly.
