Towns or Robert Gram talk about draining carbs all of the time.
they need to tell us how much comes out of a single float bowl
Not much.. As noted, the FLOAT takes up MOST of the space inside the carb.

If for that 8HP, you get a 1/4 cup would be a lot. The more UN-TREATED fuel that evaporates, the more likely you'll get varnish to build up (as well as in the jets). The smaller the jet orifice, the more likely issues are going to arise...

I can (just did actually), drain the bowl on a 9HP Honda engine pressure washer for storage. It has a drain screw on the bowl so none lost). The fuel that came out just covered the bottom of a tuna fish can.. (Not much!!)

And Jason, for your engine, simply prime the carbs fuel (engine cold is fine), then remove the drain screw and catch what comes out of one chamber. It's not going to be much (please post).. The less fuel there is, the faster it'll evaporate.

Just a side note. I replaced my transom fuel filter with the see thru cup/drain. The primer valve will NOT fill the filter. I have to run the engine.
Just the fuel in the VST, the engine will run (with no fuel VISIBLE in the filter) for approx 5 minutes (on muffs, idling) before the pumps suck fuel REAL fast into that larger filter. (the primer bulb is AFTER THE FILTER, then to the engine-so basically a temporary air lock)
