  • Running on the hose

I just dropped the lower unit of my neighbors f200 txrb ,the water pump housing was a slight melted , not bad , next time he starts it ( on land ) should he run a hose to both the flush , in addition the " muffs" , I am sure it has to prevent this

Depends on the volume of water flow exiting the spigot. If such is a low flow source then yeah, the extra volume will help.

Either way, keep in mind if your neighbor is one who revs the rpms up during flushing there is only so much water that can be delivered due to the resistance created by the inner diameter of muff/flush port nozzle. The more the engine works, the more water it pulls. If the water supply isn't there, friction tends to cause heat, heat tends to melt plastic.

Is lack of water flow during flushing the reason the housing has slightly melted?
