  • Yamaha ox66 vmax identification.

I've got a Yamaha. Plate says 02' vx200tlrb serial number 66xl1001013. Round black sticker on block says 1000070. Motor cover says ox66 vmax 250. How can I determine if it is actually a 200 or 250?

    Thanks

    66XL 1001013 is a model VX200TLRB. 200 as in 200 HP.

I suspect that someone installed a VX250 cowling.

On the other hand, the alternate ID showing serial number 1000070 might very well indicate that someone installed a VX250 power plant on your motor.

Look at the ECU. What do you see?

66X indicates it is for a 200 HP VX model.

69L indicates it is for a 250 HP VX model.

69L on the ecu. So does that mean it is a 250 and maybe the bracket was reused from old motor. Tach also says only 20 hours but the tach looks brand new as well. Thanks for your help.

It would appear to me that someone installed a dressed VX250 power plant on a VX200 motor.

Regarding tachometer hours, no way to tell if the tach hours are the same as engine run hours. Install a brand new tachometer on a motor that has 4000 hours and the tachometer will indicate 0 hours.

I don't know if this is proper to add to this thread but I have some performance questions related to this motor. It is mounted on a 2003 skeeter 2200t. I am getting 45mph wot at about 5400rpm. Prop is 17p mirage. Hydraulic jack plate. This seems to be slow top end speed based on what I've read elsewhere if the motor is a 250. Is there something that would affect the top end if only the block on a 200 was replaced with a 250? I've also confirmed it's a 250 because it has 3 LP fuel pumps before the vet. Is there some gearing difference between these models. It looks like all of the 200-250s use the same lower units.

          Thanks again.

            revolutions

At full throttle, how many RPM's are you turning?
If its got teats or tires, you bound to have trouble with it....
